For more almost 30 years Earthlite has been working with many massage therapists and business owners that deserve to be recognized by the community. We wanted to honor a few of those "heroes”: business owners, innovators, sports therapists, and local massage therapists that provide their service to the general public. These interviews allow us to exemplify the wonderful work that they’ve done and receive insight into the minds of these fascinating people. This time we got to chat with our great friend Tammy Beach.
Tammy is a licensed, certified massage therapist and holistic health practitioner who still loves her profession after twenty years. Her specialties include: lymph drainage, deep tissue, healing touch, reflexology, sports, hot stone, and aromatherapy. She has been a Holistic Health Practitioner and Massage Therapist for 20 years, working with Physician’s (Western, Eastern & Naturopathic) as well as Nutritionist, Oncologist, Professors, and other Health Professionals, from all over the world. What inspired you to begin? How did your career as a therapist come about?
Due to a back injury I was prescribed pain medication, but I wanted a natural alternative. A physical therapist suggested massage; I was amazed at how much better I felt. I realized the power of therapeutic bodywork. That experience changed my life and inspired me to go to School, I chose Healing Hands School of Holistic Health which I am an Advisory Board Member of today. It’s my passion to offer others natural pain relief through therapeutic massage. I know I’m following the path that was meant for me.
What advice do you have for someone looking to enter the business?
Look for an accredited school that offers a wide variety of classes in holistic health and massage. Remember trying different types of bodywork will help you to find your own unique style. It’s a rewarding field to be in and to be apart of, I would say, “go for it”. It’s a special feeling knowing you’ve helped someone manage their pain and feel better.
What was the process like starting your private practice?
It’s been an amazing journey working with people from all over the world and from all walks of life and in all stages of health. Finding the right space and having the right equipment is very important. I’m grateful to be able to provide a healing space where the mind, body and spirit can relax, feel nurtured and be rejuvenated. I know that I’m following the path that was meant for me.
Why do you prefer Earthlite?
I absolutely love Earthlite! They have everything I need, from state of the art massage tables, flannel sheets, bolsters, creams lotions and so much more. I depend on their products to help, keep my clients happy.
I was fortunate enough to have worked at Earthlite early in my career. It was a great experience working for a company that realizes the benefits of massage, providing massage therapy for all of their employees. I saw the passion, care and dedication that go into their products. Earthlite also cares about our environment, and I know that much thought goes into what they do. That’s important to me. I’ve made, great life long friends at Earthlite. Earthlite will always be a part of my business.
What are your keys to longevity as a massage therapist?
Get a Massage. Self care is a very important part of this career. Remember to step away from your work and have fun, relax and do the things that make you happy. In order to take care of others we must take care of ourselves. Be flexible and diversify your practice. Continue to take classes and explore new techniques. Networking and sharing ideas also, helps to keep you connected.
